Playground Etiquette

HERE IS A TIP IF YOU HAVE AS RESISTANT CHILD or a CHILD WHO WON’T GET ALONG WITH OTHERS AT THE PARK:
If your child is aggressive and doesn’t want to play cooperatively with other children or won’t give up the swing or slide:
- Acknowledge their feelings: “you like the swing, you don’t want to get off” “Is this your favorite thing to do at the park?”
- Make an observation: “you like it so much that you don’t want to share”
- Reflect: “How do you think the other kids feel not being able to have a turn?”
- Ask for help: “What can we do to make these sad kids feel better?”
You want to have control with your children, not over them. The best way to teach children how to do the right thing is by modeling the behavior yourself. Happy play day.
