Helpful classes to take at 7 months pregnant (offered at hospital)

Layette (first 8 weeks of life):
- 3 newborn gowns
- 8 new born onsies
- 4 pair of cotton footsy pants
- 8 romper/sleepers with feet
- 4 soft, satin edged blankets (use in stroller, bed, car etc.)
*Expect to do baby laundry every other day. Baby wears 4- 6 outfits per DAY due to burps, spit, pee and poop. Wash all layette, blankets, bottles and pacifiersthe month before you deliver.
Crib ($250 - $500) (get crib that has 3 levels, not 2, so baby can’t climb out)
- Plastic crib rail covers (babies r us)
- Mattress
- Plastic zip-up mattress cover
- Soft mattress cover (water proof) put over plastic cover
- Sheets (pottery barn has soft chenille sheets)
- Bumpers (Bellini is great for custom orders)
- Musical mobile
- Baby monitor (screen hand held or audio only)
Changing table ($89 – $400) (ONLINE has bigger selection than stores: target, jcpenny,baby depot, babiesrus, babystyle)
- Changing pad (babies r us, target, baby depot)
- Changing pad cover (pottery barn has chenille covers)
- Lap pads to place on chenille cover (babies r us)
Nursing:
- Pottery barn has boppy and chenille boppy covers
- Disposable breast pads for under bra
- Cotton washable breast pads
Diapering:
- Diaper Bag
- Diaper Gene or diaper compost bucket
- Hamper with vinyl lining for damp clothes (brands,: Badger or Redmon)
- At least 8 packs of diapers per month or enough cloth diapers for the entire week!
- Diaper cream
- Baby wipes (they have a baby wipe warmer, but it’s not necessary, its’ nice though)
Bathing:
- Euro Tub last for 3 years (better than newborn tubs)
- Baby towels with HOOD
- Baby washcloths
- Aveno or Gerber Wash (combo shampoo and wash)
- Comb and brush set
- NAIL clippers
Feeding:
- New born pacifiers (latex, no rubber)
- 6- 12 month pacifiers
- newborn bibs
- Bottles with tilt neck (big nipples)
- Burp cloths or cloth diapers to wipe spit up and drool all day long!
- Teething rings
- Formula: Infamil powder (w/lipil) (babies r us) or www.enfamil.com
- Infamil travel packs (individual packs for diaper bag)
- Start sippy cup (rubber tip) at 6-7 months old. Try to wean off bottles by 15 months old.
- Try to stop pacifier before age 1
Travel:
- Infant Carrier Car Seat (get cotton material, canvas is sweaty) Graco makes cotton
- Snap and go, or Koala Kraft frame to hold infant carrier as new born stroller (Baby Depot, babiesrus)
- Baby is 9 months old: LIGHT WEIGHT STROLLER
- Baby is 9 months old: BRITAX CAR SEAT (20lbs – 60 lbs)
- Or you can do Bugaboo and spend $800 for in all in one
Baby Contraptions that make life easier:
- Bijourn front carrier, sling or wrap to carry baby
- Bouncy chair (that sits o table or floor)
- Baby swing (not necessary)
- Baby floor gym
- Humidifier
- Baby gate ($19 at toys are us)
- Baby foam crib wedge (works great if baby spits up while asleep or is congested)
- Teething toys, rattles (baby doesn’t hold toys until 4-5 months old)
MUST HAVE at home at all times:
- Baby Tylenol
- Baby Motrin/advil
- Organic or Ivory Laundry detergent
Things to consider
- Baby powder is not recommended
- Baby Oil is not recommended
- Q-tips are only to be used on belly button – NEVER in the ears.
